red bricks would make a good saggar for smoking but would not be good
for a kiln. Red bricks are low fire clay.

If you're speaking of house brick, then only low-fire
work can be fired in such a kiln. House brick is made
of a lower-firing clay, generally, and it is fired to
about 1800F. Hotter, it can and does melt to a puddle.
You can fire raku and low-fire salt in such kilns. The
brick do not insulate well, though.
