Hi Tony,

I attended an Ian Currie workshop a few years ago. I am a big fan of
his grid method.
It is a huge time saver that also helps visually explain what is
happening with a glaze.
This is especially good for those who aren't big on theory.

I have a page of glaze grids up on the web.
For those interested in them click on the first link below.

Gotcha! I'm testing Cone 6 for a weekend only. One of the best glaze
teachers in the world is coming to the Hamilton Potters Guild in
April. This guy has made a living teaching glaze testing and is in
demand the world over. He filled both weekends to capacity of 21
people each weekend and has a waiting list of 21 people wanting a
third weekend. Can't be done, so a 3 hour free lecture has been
arranged. I'm going not only because I am interested in his grid
method of glaze testing but I want to see his presentation and how he
involves the group. If you can fill a room 3 times on the other side
of the world then you're doing something extremely well. Let's say I'm
studying his teaching skills and performance art, as well.
It will also be our my pleasure to welcome Ian Currie to our home for
a glass of grape and some chit chat. He is one of those guys I miss on
this list. I am excited for my Guild as this area has an abundance of
rocks and clays that would make a nice thin layer of glaze.
RR did an excellent job of preparing many in this area with the skill
of using Insight. I think to be able to combine The Grid Method and
Insight will well prepare a potter or pottery teacher.
I've asked Ian to bring me one of his fingerprint shino bourbon cups.
I think they rock!
Cheers,
Tony

John, Your website is incredible. The way it is organized makes it
so simple to use. I am going to mix up Jen's Juicy Fruit and runs
some tests over glossy glazes. Thank you for all you contribute. I
will let you know the results of my tests.
I visited your student site also. It is obvious you are an excellent
teacher. Their faces and their work reflect their enjoyment and talent!
