Some few years back, about the time I discovered clayart, I had TERRIBLE problems with glazes shivering on a commercial clay body. I didn't post about the problem, because I was a newbie and figured it was all my fault. I had also been experimenting with glazes, and thought that the glazes were the problem; until, after some months and lots of wasted effort I found that almost all glazes would shiver on this body. Ron Roy's helpful posts helped me realize where the problem lay -- it wasn't me after all! Apparently the supplier (not Laguna) had changed the formulation of the body; so my favorite throwing clay became useless.

I still have a hundred pounds or so left if anyone wants some . I use Tucker's clay now.

Ron,

I just don't see messages from potters that they are having problems
with dunting or shivering. Most commercial clays are pretty good.
Maybe bodies that are made by potters with little or no experience that
make their own clays, may at first have some sort of problems.
