the concept of a mug inside a mug with an air insulating layer works nicely. we bought a chinese tea set that is made that way. the tea pot and cups are double layered, with carved out patterns to see inside to the second layer. nice looking, and functional.

Subject: Average size mug and how much coffee do you drink?

Jim has a collection of old, decrepit plastic 22 oz. mugs, with lids.
He uses one every morning when he stops at the convenience store for
his coffee on the way to work.

An interesting mug would be one that fits in the cup holder, holds 22
oz. and has a lid on it to keep the coffee warm. I've been thinking
about throwing mugs with lids. Many of my herb teas require 4-5 minutes
to steep. Hot water gets awfully cold in that time. I've been putting a
plastic saucer on top of the mug.... not a pretty sight. But... a mug
with a lid, that would be very practical.

Jim could take a nice mug, as opposed to those decrepit plastic things,
out to the garage where he has his lathe when he turns wood. With a
nice lid, his coffee would stay warm.

So... here I am, full of mug ideas, and full of throwing problems. I'd
go back to the studio today and play in the mud, but I owied my lower
back yesterday lifting something the wrong way. You'd think someone old
enough to order off the senior menu would know better, but nooooooooo.
Instead, I'll spend the day in the sewing room where I have my sewing
chair adjusted perfectly to support my lower back.
