Magnesium Oxide is a light fluffy flux that will turn cobalt lavendar
when it is present in a glaze. Dolomite is a common source of Magnesium.
Manganese frequently "dioxide" is a dark heavy metal and blamed for
nerve deterioration when the fumes are inhaled frequently. It is
blamed for David Shaner's demise.
Manganese is used to color glazes deep purple to browns and sometimes
added for blacks.
Chemical symbols are MnO for Manganese and MgO for Magnesium
