On the first weekend in June, Kevin Crowe will be hosting a conference in southern Virginia, the focal point being a firing of his kiln that will take place in May including Micki Schloessingk, Stephen Driver, Judith Duff, Victoria Hansen, Robert Compton, Jack Troy, and Mark Hewitt. The idea behind the event is that these eight potters will meet up, design a firing that scratches some creative itches, fire in a true Tye River celebratory manner, and meet a few weeks later to discuss the outcomes, inviting up to 130 fellow-wood-fire-enthusiasts to join them.
Early registration is ending soon, and I'd like to encourage folks to come along for the ride. The fee for now is $395, and includes lodging, food, and the conference, including a teabowl exchange, and a Saturday evening party. I'm seriously looking forward to an unprecedented experience, particularly putting 8 wood-fire minds together, each one willing to stretch and grow.
The info is on Kevin's website: www.kevincrowepottery.com
I don't usually post much, but I haven't seen anything about this one yet, and I really feel it will be excellent. It's the perfect post-NCECA something-to-look-forward-to. Not to mention, Springtime in Virginia is incredible!
Hope to see you there,
