Does anyone have some recipes/tips on formulating a dry-looking glaze base
for cone 6 oxidation? All of my matte recipes create a glaze that looks too
soft and silky, but I am trying to develop some different colors that have a
more cement-like feel.
Anything would be appreciated. Thank you.

my favorite dry glaze...
50 parts Bone Ash
100 parts Gerstley Borate
Try it under, over any glaze
By itself,it takes stain in weird ways(rubbed in after firing)
I love the simplicity and surprize of this glaze.

you need a start point say clay 30, felspar 30, and run a line blend adding
any flux in 5 gramme increments until you get as satisfactory surface would
suggest whiting and barium as a starter you will qiuckly solve your problem
and learn lots about glazes. a great book on this type of glaze research
has been published by greg daly out here in australia called "glazes a
systematic approach" dunno weather you can get it in the states but you
could order it .. let me know if you are intrerested i will chase it up for
you .. I can't recomend this book highly enough
