I should know better than this I promised John H a wood fired mug to
try to educate him beyond the rut he's in. I was in such a hurry to go
to China in the fall I left the rigidized fiber damper in the wood
kiln and it is froze solid in there and i can't fire the dang kiln
till Mother Nature gets in a better mood. Sorry John till next year
brown is the colour of all wood fired work.
I'm firing the gas kiln tonight and I got some cups I'd bring to Necca
if anybody wants one. They have an undulated rim, carbon trap shino
glaze with copper slip, a peony foot and a wedgey according to Kelly.
This has been a ruff year money wise since I've been an absentee
potter for 8 and half months of 2007. Who said education was cheap?
Let me know and I'll bring one for ya. I'll spend the money on food
honest! Now, if there is a God he's looking after my carbon trap
firing right now.
Visit Russel, marcia and me at the La Meridiana booth and we have a
raffle prize for you to win. Malcolm Davis promised me a pot and Ron
Meyers has given me a Yunomi (hope he doesn't forget). Ron is getting
a life time achievement award from Nceca . He said it's what ya get
for getting old. He is being humble. The guy's pots are his legacy. No
bsing just good work over a lifetime.

........... I'll spend the money on food honest!.......

Anyone who doesn't have one of Tony's cups
needs one. True. I got one because I wanted
one, a while back. He sent it to me sight unseen.
It's - well, it's just great. I love it, and have to hide
it from the kitchen-coffee-drinkers. They are all
theives, and I see them eying my cup.....one way
or the other it gets used every day. Get one if
you can. This is an unsolicited response - I won't
even be at NCECA this year.

I'm not running for any office (though perhaps I
SHOULD be, given available options). Just get your cups
while you can.

Hey gang I'm doing a workshop at Peter's Valley August 26-30th. It's a week
before school so a weird time for a workshop. I'm doing sectional throwing
and a shino firing all in 5 days. If anyone is interested in being a studen=
t
I can offer you a scholarship for 50% but ya have to work for food. You wor=
k
an entire day before the course or help in the kitchen or do housekeeping a=
n
hour a day during the course. They feed ya and ya stay in the student digs
which I hear are pretty primitive. I'm looking forward to PV and some time
with one of my all time favourites Bruce Dehnert . Geez, where has the
summer gone?
Cheers,
Tony
