frit 3195: id on #50 bag?

updated tue 8 apr 08

Chemfinder.com list this CAS number as:

Frits, chemicals [65997-18-4]
Synonyms: Frits, chemicals; Lead bisilicate; Lead borate;

Sorry not much help. Also, remember that some suppliers will use
"equivalent" frits from different sources at times. If I want Ferro
sometimes I get the Pemco equivalent.

Eleanora -=20
Ferro 3195 is a calcium borate frit, and according to the materials data =
tables in Insight (which seem to always be correct), it yields 11.2% =
calcium oxide, 6% sodium oxide, 12% aluminum oxide, 23% boric oxide, and =
47.4% silicon dioxide.

Hope that helps -=20

Hi Taylor,

I saw this but that # had a whole lot more #s after it for the lead frits.
We all know that 3195 is NOT a lead frit. I was rather shocked to see
this information myself. How can this be?

Have I opened a can of worms I don't want to see?

Nope,

Eddy's right. They use that CAS for most if not all the frits. Dumb
chemists. Glad you found the information finally.

You didn't spill out the entire bag when you turned it over to look at
the bottom, did you? Silly potter.

Hi Taylor,

Actually no, didn't spill it. You see I had it wrapped in a black plastic
garbage bag and the only place that was inconvenient to check was
the bottom. Figures.

Glad we got it all straightened out. This potter may be silly, but she
has all her materials stored now where they are easy to check and get
at!

Oh, forgot that carton of stains.....ah well, that is still to be sorted.
