Hopefully someone can help me out. I have just purchased a kiln from
someone. It is unclear what model/type it is and to what cone it fires.
How do I find out the model/type. It is 10-sided with a lite-lift lid and
a DTC 1000. The kiln without it's stand is around 3 1/2 to 4 feet tall.
It has three peep holes on the side.
Thanks ahead for the help.

Ishee:
The DTC 1000 is a Paragon controller, so it is likely that your kiln is a
Paragon.

Hope this helps

You will find the model number listed on the kiln's
electrical data plate. (It is a small black plate riveted to
the side of the switch box.)
Your kiln is a Paragon that was made around 1999 and has a
Bartlett controller.

Thank you all for the information. I'll look for the id plate tomorrow,
after work. During the day I am a teacher and of an evening, a potter and
parent. Luvin every minute of it all.
I throw functional ware and handbuild occassionally from slabs. I try to
upgrade my studio as needed or as the opportunity surfaces to do so. I
focus on cone 6 glazes. I hope to eventually get back into firing in a
gas kiln--but thats down the road a bit. I have always used a manual
kiln, with a Dawson kiln sitter. This will be my first experience with
the digital controller.

Somewhere on the outer shell is a metal plaque
about the size of a playing card, stamped with the
voltage, amperage, and such, including the max.
cone rating. It will also have the manufacturer's
name with the model and serial number.
