"Media Mail" rates for CDs and DVDs as well as printed
materials like books and magazines are very reasonable.
No personal correspondence can be in the package.
I can mail a 8 pound box of my CDs and DVDs for less
than $5. Delivery time is not quick, usually about a week,
but the price is right. For 75 cents more you can get
a tracking number and delivery confirmation.

this is just the beginning of emptying out the bookshelves of old magazines.
i would rather recycle them this way then into the recycle truck.and if you live close enough you can pick them up rather then having me ship them..

One caveat: Media Mail can't be used for anything containing advertising,
so tell the post office folks that it is books. Since the magazines are
old, you can rationalize it in that the advertisements are all "expired", so
of historic interest only. As David said, it can take a long time. I
mailed 14 boxes of books to a friend all on the same day, and they arrived
over a 3 week span. BTW, the boxes were mostly xerox paper sized, and cost
$11-14 each to ship. Very reasonable.

Why lie?
FYI. Media mail can be opened for inspection to determine if the materials
enclosed comply with the rate.
