>I wanted to add a little to=20
>my last post about the short videos my=20
>friend from the UK , Jill Egan , posted
on painting overglaze using china paints and sugar syrup.
She is a member of Clayart=20
also but cant get a message through for=20
some reason ...( cant get her email
program to address an email...)...so I am forwarding her message.
She also included a little note about=20
an upcoming show in the UK that is being put together by
Christine Bennett called=20
the Centigrade Show. It is a bold idea and one I d love to try =
to
implement here in the US. ( ILl be talking=20
more to Christine next week when Im in the UK next week . ) ...

Christine is opening the show to china=20
painters, yes, but also to anyone who uses kiln firing as part
of their artistic process ...potters=20
and hot glass people. There will be displays ,=20
demos, finished products and materials for sale,
a chance to try things yourself=20
, various raffles... and best of all,=20
the money raised will go toward education
in the fired arts for=20
kids.. making supplies and teachers etc available for schools ....

Jill has included information in her email=20
if anyone wants to contact Christine ... and you are all welcome to
attend.

There will also be a large convention=20
of china painters here in Nashville hosted by IPAT ...
August 18 to 23, 2008 at the Sheraton Music=20
City Hotel which is about 5 minutes away from
the Nashville airport. This will=20
be mostly traditional china painting .. but it will be a huge show (=
in
chinapainting standards,=20
anyway ...tiny by NCECA standards LOL! ) ..=20
about 100 vendors ... and there will be artists there
from around=20
the world including several who are Meissen=20
factory trained . there will be demos all day ( at a nominal
cost ...$ 3.00 I think=20
) and no charge to get in to the show...=20
Cant beat THAT .so even you poor
college students can afford to come . LOL !!!
The hours will be 6:30 - 9:30 Thursday, 9-5:=20
30 Friday and 9-1 saturday and=20
while the vendor area wont be open till
Thursday evening, there will be FREE demos=20
on Wednesday from 9-5 .. There=20
are also 4 hour hands -on paint ins Tuesday and wed .
Anyone interested in overglaze, this will=20
be a great chance to get supplies,=20
and some how to's ... and see the best of
the best of contemporary china=20
painters.. A lot of the china=20
painters in Paul Lewing's book will be there... and I
will have a booth also .. . and I will be demoing lusters....
http://ipatinc.com/convention.html
LIke i said, it will=20
be traditional chinapainting...lots of=20
flowers... but there will be portrait artists and people doing some
wild things too ...
AND Nashville is a really fun town ...
