We probably need more information. Are you using the tanks one at a time and switching over? Or what kind of configuration do you have in order to use them both at the same time? I used to fire my homemade softbrick kiln using a 250 gallon tank. I could get a couple of firings at least out of the tanks. Probably your biggest problem might be the danger of having the tanks freeze on you near the end of the firing. Be prepared to use warm water over the tanks to keep them from freezing. If you had data on consumption per firing, you could argue for having them fill the tanks. Are they prepared to offset the cost of the gas if you run out before reaching temperature? Do they understand about how much gas the kiln uses?

Subject: advice on gas firing please
Hi All,
I have a 16 cubic alpine updraft propane kiln I plan to fire to shortly if
I get the advice I sorely need. The 2 100 gallon tanks are at 50%.The gas
company will not come and refill them till there quite empty. Can I fire
this bugger to cone 10 with this much gas?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Your 2 100 gal. tanks are not very big for that size kiln. Do you have any
way to connect these two tanks together with a common line and a "switch
over" valve which can be turned
from one tank operation to the other.? The simplest approach is to keep a
water hose at hand to water down the tank, preventing it from freezingduring
usage! What is your record of tank usage? You should always keep a "firing
record" which allows you to predict where you threshold level of fuel level.

Hi Gina,
My guess is yes. As long as you do not live in the north where it is still a little cold. I fire a 60 cu/ft on less gas than you have in your tanks.
Good luck,
john
