Thanks, Bill, for sharing use of the fuzzies on top your glaze!

Truly interesting. Am I the only one who sees Wee People and
Grumpy Denizens, as well as a couple of folks from the Other
Side ... in these fuzzies? Surely not, but friends tell
me that I see faces everywhere ..... in fabrics, carpets, painted
walls, wood grain, clouds (of course! Don't we all? Apparently not.) etc
....... and
that they're getting worried since when I do
point out the faces, after re-orienting themselves, they too see them.

I never thought much about the faces I see since I thought everybody
saw them. Now I'm not sure. Tell me, dear buds in clay, do you see
faces everywhere also?

I even keep a notebook with poorly executed sketches of the faces I've
seen recently. I'm thinking about putting them on pots.

I am so thrilled to see so many clayart posts! Yea for all of us, and mucho
thanks to our Band Leader.... the Town Mayor......... Melvin Lee Jacobson.....
Man of the Year!! And Steve!!! Thank you, Steve, thank you, thank you.

Joyce
In the Mojave where I'm at a loss for words to describe our recent winds!
Mojo, at six years of age, has a new method of dealing with such verocity.
She takes a run through the house (which is constructed so that the front
part is sort of a circle) starting with whatever room I'm in.....
running around
the circle through every room, sometimes twice..... then makes a flying leap
into my lap and hangs on. If I say, "you can get down now...." only
growls are emitted until the wind ceases, at least briefly. When they begin
again I stand and continue to do so until It's Over..... threatening
to lock her
in the bathroom if she doesn't quit growling and biting my shoes. Well,
Clayart's back; perhaps Mojo will come to her senses soon .... or at least
the Wind will abate............ please.

Haven't seen the faces, but then I was taking the picture, so I wasn't
allowing my creative side to pay attention.

I think we all "see" things, whether it's in clouds, in trees, in
abstract/non-objective paintings or in surface decoration on pots.
It's our brains way of ordering the world around us, trying to make sense of
shapes/patterns. We bring our experiences/memories in to play and use them
to interpret what we see.

Guess I need to go back and see if I can find Joyce's face in my cup...

Bill

Joyce;
We all see what eyes are made to see. This is never what is not there,
though of course there is a lot in the space of our view that our eyes can
not see. ( such as x-rays and heat waves, est.) Eyes see only a very small
spectrum of energy. In that mathematics that eyes are made for seeing, we
the viewer must be given permission to recognize with our minds and then
socially with our words what is happening for us.

Try this: Go to
http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.editAlbumPhotos&albumID=121075&MyToken=6cf6d82a-6031-43e5-a1a1-cb99e82d72f2
This is my photo album at myspace and follow what I'm wanting to point out.

The two white paper crinkle sculptures (I love doing these in clay) are only
shapes of white and gray but once I began permitting you to 'see' by titling
them --when I was a baby in my daddy lap he would read his newspaper to
me... it is not long before you can see me in his lap and as I go permitting
you future by saying that when I grew up my greatest challenge was to get
his attention from that paper reading to seeing me instead of that darn
newspaper.... About that time in the sculpture your eyes could see my little
head under his chin raped in newsprint.....

Take a look at the "test tile Christ". The image is not of coarse a haloed
Christ image. On closer examination the head of the man has some separation
from the cloud above him. See how our language (that's our intelligence)
predigests our eye looking and leads us to see what is there. The tile is a
2 X 3 test tile from a raku test kiln and the curved tile fell over on the
shelf and I set it on it into the concrete while I opened the reduction can
and it rolled over on it molten face. I had a time getting that tile into
the can.

Lastly I posted a 2 by 3 inch detail from a 3 foot by 2 foot sumi ink
painting that I am presently working on. Woops. I didn't put it in large
enough for you to enlarge it in you computer's viewer. So I can't
demonstrate that what the eye sees is a product of shared markers. Walking
up to a sumi painting is a trip through the feelings manipulated by shared
marks ( in such case brush marks of ink). What I think I see from one
distance becomes a different arrangement (shared- marks) to the elements of
the new image.
check out: Mandelbrot set and fractal imaging.

Everything we know or experience is a shared marker for some yet to be
demonstrated image.

that.

Any one know of a site I can put =

The link that you posted takes me to the opening page of=20
myspace.com and wants me to sign =
in....

Is there a direct link that can be viewed without signing =
in?

Joyce;
    We all see what eyes are =
made to=20
see. This is never what is not there,
though of course there is a =
lot in=20
the space of our view that our eyes can
not see. ( such as x-rays =
and=20
heat waves, est.) Eyes see only a very small
spectrum of energy. =
In that=20
mathematics that eyes are made for seeing, we
the viewer must be =
given=20
permission to recognize with our minds and then
socially with our =
words=20
what is happening for us.

Try this: Go to

This=20
is my photo album at myspace and follow what I'm wanting to point=20
out.

The two white paper crinkle sculptures (I love doing =
these in=20
clay) are only
shapes of white and gray but once I began =
permitting you=20
to 'see' by titling
them --when I was a baby in my daddy lap he =
would=20
read his newspaper to
me... it is not long before you can see me =
in his=20
lap and as I go permitting
you future by saying that when I grew =
up my=20
greatest challenge was to get
his attention from that paper =
reading to=20
seeing me instead of that darn
newspaper.... About that time in =
the=20
sculpture your eyes could see my little
head under his chin raped =
in=20
newsprint.....

Take a look at the "test tile Christ". The =
image is=20
not of coarse a haloed
Christ image. On closer examination the =
head of=20
the man has some separation
from the cloud above him. See how our =

language (that's our intelligence)
predigests our eye looking and =
leads=20
us to see what is there. The tile is a
2 X 3 test tile from a =
raku test=20
kiln and the curved tile fell over on the
shelf and I set it on =
it into=20
the concrete while I opened the reduction can
and it rolled over =
on it=20
molten face. I had a time getting that tile into
the =
can.

Lastly I=20
posted a 2 by 3 inch detail from a 3 foot by 2 foot sumi =
ink
painting=20
that I am presently working on. Woops. I didn't put it in =
large
enough=20
for you to enlarge it in you computer's viewer. So I =
can't
demonstrate=20
that what the eye sees is a product of shared markers. Walking
up =
to a=20
sumi painting is a trip through the feelings manipulated by =
shared
marks=20
( in such case brush marks of ink). What I think I see from =
one
distance=20
becomes a different arrangement (shared- marks) to the elements =
of
the=20
new image.
check out: Mandelbrot set and fractal=20
imaging.

Everything we know or experience is a shared marker =
for=20
some  yet to be
demonstrated image.
Life is not a private =

enterprise. It's an associative adventure.
