John,
I use Firefox, and Internet Explorer, and Safari -- on three different
machines. However, sorting of message threads typically is an issue
for your email client rather than your web browser. I notice you're on
a charter.net account, which means you're probably using something
like Outlook to read your mail unless Charter now offers a web
interface.

Please give more details about what email reader you're using so I or
someone else on the list can help out.

I use a gmail account for the lists where I get a lot of email. Gmail
does a good job of grouping the threads, so if there is a thread that
just doesn't interest me, I can click on delete once and it deletes
all the messages in that thread. Sorting of messages by name, subject,
date, etc. is also easy to do.
