alex duff combs passes away at 88 years of age in homer, alaska

Sad news for potters who knew and loved Alex Combs. A fine potter, he was a student of Rudie Staffel, attended Temple U. and taught in Anchorage for many years. He was my mentor as I started my teaching career. I talked with him in February this year for the last time, in Bear Cove, when I was visiting Seldovia, AK at my sister's new home there. His laugh and good spirit seemed to never change. He was a pioneer in Alaskan ceramics and arts.
