Speaking of masonite, is anyone finding double tempered masonite (slick a=
nd smooth on both sides) even available anymore? I was wanting to cut ou=
t a few larger bats, and everywhere I go I am told they no longer stock i=
t because cheaper stuff sells better. I will go to sink cut-out material=
or marine plywood if I have to, but was hoping to get the lighter masoni=
te.

Same Question. I need to replace some of the sheets that came with my
slab roller and can't find the stuff anywhere locally. None of the
construction materials places carry it, opting for cheaper grade
materials. There probably isn't much demand for ti generally, but it
sure would be nice to be able to buy it locally. Ordering it it is sort
of out of the question -no body wants to even talk about it. Modern
technology allows companies to keep close tabs on what sells, and what
doesn't, andif the item is not a mover, it gets removed from the
re-order list.

Last summer we traveled through Vermont vi=
siting studios and galleries.
One of the studios, can’t recall name of artists (husband & wife)=
, also is a wholesale producer of Masonite and MDF bats.
He told me the manufacturer was no longer producing the older “good s=
tuff” and what material he had in inventory was the end of it, couldn&=
#8217;t get anymore.
Have his name and contact at school if anybody wants it and I’ll post=
back tomorrow with that information.

I get mine from a company that makes tents, boat covers, awnings, etc. =
It is quite reasonable compared to fabric stores and they have much =

It may have been Todd Wahlstrom and Ashya Peltz. They were selling
masonite bats at the Alfred Intensive a few years ago.

masonite that is smooth both sides and 1/4 thick is usually available
from lowes, home depot, or both. It is often hidden away from other
similar materials at my local stores, but it is available.
