problem reading/posting via digest/archive

updated fri 30 may 08

I normally read Clayart by reviewing the one line descriptions sent in the
daily digest, then clicking on those I want to read, which brings the text
for the selected message down from the archive. Since the new software was
activated, I have been getting error messages from the Clayart website
stating that the archive either doesn't exist or is inaccessible. This
appears to happen every time I select a message whose header indicates an
html attachment in addition to a text attachment. It never happens when the
header shows only a text attachment - those download just fine and are
perfectly readable.

Additionally, when I post a message I normally do so using the form
available on the Clayart website. This also appears not to be working with
the new software. The form exists, and it accepts input but the message
doesn't get posted. Therefore, I have posted this message by email.

If anyone can help with either of these problems, please contact me offlist.

thanks,

Hi Clayarters, and Mel, and Carole,

I have noticed the problem with not seeing all messages posted when I
use the web archive. (I wasn't as clever as you and hadn't realized it
was happening only when e-mails were marked as having HTML attachments.)

I think that perhaps even though this version of Listserv can allow html
(and some other types of attachments,) Mel and the programming folk at
Acers are not enabling this.

Checking through the possible "Preferences" one can set at the online
interface, I found that you could set it to view either "Text" first or
"html" first.

If it is set to view "html" first, it looks like the software doesn't
show the text.

If it is set to view "Text" first, then the posts of those who send
posts as html and text seem to be readable.

I am trying to send this from the web mail form, and will copy it into
an e-mail post as well, and hold it in my drafts folder in case the web
form still doesn't work...

Well, I don't think it went through, so I'm sending after all from my
mail software, with revisions...

Sincerely,

Helen
