new pro-line kemper tools

I went into Continental Clay to show Mike the new fired clays I am
testing for them from Craig's anagama firing. I saw on the wall by
the book display, what I thought were Dolan tools. I was sad to hear
Dolan went out of business, especially after my pear shaped tool wore
out after about 15 years of use. I saw it on the wall and snatched
one up! Only to see printed on the side, Kemper! I was told they
just came in today.

You can read about them here:

Looks like a Dolan tool.
Appears Kemper bought the rights to produce what were Dolan tools.

Lee -
Kemper had demo samples at NCECA, and they looked pretty good. The salesman
there promised to send me several to test, but I haven't seen them yet.
They do look faithful to the Dolan designs, but I am anxious to hear from
people who used Dolans every day. I'd like to know what they think of the
new Kemper Pro-Line.

Big problem. Plain high carbon steels love water, turn bright orange
if left standing in it.
To keep a sharp edge they need to be oiled after use and to maintain
an keen edge they have to be honed and stropped.
If in doubt consult the Cutlers Society in Sheffield, England. They
know a few things about Knives and high carbon steel.
Best regards,
Ivor Lewis.
