In answer to the post from Ray Carlton:

...a great book on this type of glaze research has been
published by greg daly out here in australia called "glazes a
systematic approach"...

Umm, hey, Australia has a lock on great glaze books! But actually
the book you cite here is really TWO books. You've got the title
from one and the author from the other: one by Greg Daly called
Glazes and Glazing Techniques and another one by Ian Currie called
Stoneware Glazes: A Systematic Approach. They are both good; both
are beside my bed in the pile to browse for increasing wisdom each
night at bedtime.

The Currie book is a complete do-it-yourself laboratory course in
glaze development and understanding development. The Daly book is
also technical and jammed with colored pictures of test tiles. Both
are available from The Potters Shop bookstore in Needham MA, USA
617-449-7687.

Just had to chime in to say that I recently purchased the Daly book and it is
also by my bedside. . .unfortunately, I haven't done much reading from it
yet. Maybe I better move it from beside my bed to a place where I read in a
more upright position. . .and make an appointment with myself to read it!
