some of you are still experiencing archive problems, seeing it,
reading it.
my suggestion is:
change your subscription to clayart...set clayart mail>
LISTSERV@LSV.CERAMICS.ORG SET CLAYART MAIL,
SET CLAYART NOMAIL, SET CLAYART DIGEST
just get regular clayart until things are resolved for all.
AND, MAKE SURE YOU SET NOMAIL IF YOU GO ON VACATION.
(don't blame me if you have 3,567 posts on your mail server
when you get home.) manage your account.
yahoo mail still runs clayart every day. it is a bit late, and
lags behind, but works fine for many.
it seems that the digest is working for most people.
maurice is giving us some fine help/and doing some
tweaking. his life is a bit chaotic right now..he is moving,
doing some life change..but he is still adding his expert
advice and has the codes to change things for us.
again, a valued friend of mine, and clayart.
joyce has finally got her isp to install `high speed dsl`.
she has upgraded her anti/spam etc. so, she is a
high speed woman. and we are pleased.
she lives so far out in the desert that the wires
to her house are 50 miles long. but, they work.
she will do clayart during hay creek time.
(and, i will be doing the finals on the book during
july and august...so, i will be using some new moderators
so my head will be somewhat clear.
steve will continue to be `sargeant at arms`...joyce
is vice/mayor....and i will continue to be mayor and police
chief. a combined job...no election however.
dictator for life...just like dubai.
day by day clayart is getting back to normal.
we have many tweaks to do, but in time it will
all be done.

I would not jump on Mel's suggestion. The problem is not with your
subscriptions.
There are a few different problems, though they can seem to blend
into "it's broke!"
First, and seemingly the most annoying, is the slowness of the system
which results in not being able to access the archives.
Believe me, it's most annoying to me, too, since many of the queries
and tweaks I try to do are impossible. I get the same timeouts and
lack of access to them as we all get for the archives.
That may be fixed today. Steve told me: "This used to be a huge file
server, I will run a defrag and reboot on it today."
So I guess that means that the hard drive wasn't reformatted before
being used as a clayart listserv machine, and Steve thinks that the
available space is so fragmented that the hard drive is thrashing all
day just to do normal activities.
We'll see.
Once I get usable access to the configurations, I'll be better able
to tweak the other stuff.
I'll check-in in a few hours. (I just consulted my high school
grammar notes, and even though they're fifty years old, they say that
the "... in in ..." in that last sentence is okay. Now I'll go check
to see whether three in a row as in that sentence is still okay and
will report back after clayart's defrag is done.
Regards,
Maurice
