Thinking more about what I wrote I realized I'd out-smarted myself on a wheel I started last summer. I was trying to do a top bearing with a single ball sitting in the end of a 1"x1/4" bellreducer. On the under side of the wheel head I made a hole with an inset dimpled penny. I stopped working on it cuz side ways forces would cause the ball to hop out of place. Remembering that small bearing I described I recalled I had 4 or 5 like it. So here's what I did-
The wooden part-

10" wheel head of 3/4" cherry ply from a cabinet shop dumpster.
4" by 4" square tube of 1/2" ply from a neighbor
A double layer of 3/4" ply for the top of a 16" fly wheel
A "tyre" layed up flat with four layers of scrap 2x4 I drew a hexagon and then a circle to round off the corners. From this I made a template with a 60 degreee cut across the 2x4, a flat side on the inside and a curve on the outside and cut a bunch of blocks to screw and glue together.
The metal part-

At the top the bearing race about 3/8" ID
The bell reducer with a carriage bolt stcking out at the top a washer on top of the reducer to engage the inner ring of the race and a larger washer in the wheelhead that engages the outside of the race.
A 2 foot pipe nipple
A 1" floor flange
The bottom bearing is a pair of "Duallie" appliance casters mounted with blocks and bars to the bottom of the flywheel. This ends up with the pipe shaft picnched between four rollers
Tha's about it

Hey my peeps:

I've got a request. For well over a year now I have been trying to
find online pictures of korean kick wheels. I have tried every type of
search I know, but I can only find two pics. I'm really wanting to see
how they are put together, bearings, joins, etc and neither of the two
pics really help much. I'd really love to see one, touch one, feel one
but I don't think there are many of them down here in the Coastal
Bend, so...a little help?
