Yep ! Im researching that aspect myself ..
FYI, Art
Academy http://www.artacademylive.com/ is currently doing
several different things online:
1 to 1 1/2 hour lessons
10 to 15 minute video snippets
and actual live lessons where you interact with the
teacher by typing in questions and comments on your keyboard.
so yes, it CAN be done . HOW they are doing it
is another question ...

Hi Paul,

My school district has video conferencing in all of our 40 buildings.
There is a cart with a camera and a projector. The kids can see the
presenter on a large screen in the classroom and can ask questions
over a microphone.

The most common use is for kids to meet their pen pals in other
schools within the district. There are organizations that do offer
video conferences for schools. Museums and zoos offer video
conferencing for a fee. Since those organizations have worked out
fees and the technical aspects of video conferencing it might be
worthwhile to contact one of those in your area and learn about their
setup.

You might also ask if they have a list of people they have presented
video conferences to. If they have presented to schools in Alabama
for instance, then maybe there is a way for potters in that area to
use the school's video conference equipment to interact with you. I
know that many programs in my district use the facilities after school
hours and during the summer.
