Here is one for you! Haha!

I was having an algae problem in the three bowls (four, counting
the bird bath), I have outside for my Akita Kintaro. Recalling
the article about the hazards of drinking water in India, when people
switched from copper and brass water pots to plastic, I did Grandma's
old trick of putting a penny in the flower vase to keep it clean. I
put 3 pennies in 2 of the bowls and the birdbath and I left one bowl
as it was. Sure enough, the algae came back in the penni-less bowl
but not in the other three containers with pennies in them.

There are proven problems related to drinking algae water and I
am happy to find this solution works.

Made me realize that a copper liner glazes might be ideal for
inside flower vases. I will test next firing. I am guessing a
copper glaze releases far less copper than copper pennies do.
