Hey gang: Someone asked for the artist statement of Joe Davis for his
show Touchy, Feely so that they might understand the work.
We are visual artists and seeing the work ought to do the job. In case
it didn't here is Joe's website with artists statement
www.cossetcanoodle.com.
I'm in the midst of some of the best work I've ever made and I'll be
damned if I know how to articulate what it is that I'm doing. that's
why I asked a Phd in Art History with a sense of humour to be a third
on my committee. Gotta a luv a women that titles her thesis paper
"When Virgins Misbehave". She is a very articulate women and will help
me to put in words what the hell I'm doing. I'll make the work and
think of what it is I'm trying to say later. I'm waking up each
morning with a new twist to the process I'm engaged in. It's very
exciting!
All the best,
Tony

Tony,

I'm happy to know you are having the opportunity and time to explore and
allow suggestions of one piece to lead you in the direction of the next.

Your hand built work has a very architectural sense to them - whadda ya
gonna call them? "Architectural Vesselicture"?

Thanks, Tony. It wasn't that I didn't or couldn't understand the work,
I was really interested in the "why" of the work. The work itself is,
in my opinion, pretty upfront (no pun intended) in its meaning and
purpose.
