Hello Does anyone have a cone 6 celadon for Oxidation?
I know celadons are true at cone 10 as is porcelain so spare that part
of the equasion. Saving money/energy at cone 6.... Thanks Johnny

If you don't have a problem using a commercial glaze, Amaco's Potters
Choice True Celedon
is a very nice cone 6 celedon. It is one of my favorites. Donna H.

Hi Johnny,
I've been using the following, derived from a recipe
called "Honey" I found somewhere years ago. It shows off
texture very well, especially on porcelain (I use Standard 365).
You can leave out the RIO, but it yields some interesting speckles.
HONEY GLAZE ^6
Custer feldspar 20
Gerstley borate 20
Nepheline syenite 20
Flint 15
Wollastonite 10
Dolomite 2
EPK kaolin 5
Red iron oxide 2
Titanium dioxide 1
For green,
add Cobalt carbonate 0.5
Copper carbonate 3
For blue,
lessen Red iron oxide to 1, and add:
Cobalt carbonate 0.9
Copper carbonate 2.5
Hope this helps, Don Goodrich http://dongoodrichpottery.com/

Hey JBG, If you'd like to see some examples of these, see

Still another alternative is to glaze with Floating Blue
(Chappell's recipe or a similar one), fire to cone 6,
then fire again to ^04. Just include it with your next
bisque firing. Refiring should yield a greyish olive green with the
visual texture of the original FB that can pass for Celedon.
(sorry, no pix available)
Dunno why this happens, but it works consistently for me.
Good luck with your tests, Don
