I liked the Asian art museum in Seattle. Chinese Pottery in an Art Deco
building. Not pottery but the aquarium on the water front is good too.
Then there is the Pike Place market. Not pottery, but...

I am headed for Juneau and Seattle tomorrow for a vacation. Does anyone know
of any clay related things there that I should not miss?

Thanks,

Hi, Elizabeth. In Seattle, get on the ferry to Bainbridge Island and go
to the Island Gallery on the main street, just up from the ferry dock.
Through the end of July they have what looks like a great teabowl show
going. And the non-clay crafts are also first-rate.
If you get to Orcas Island, Orcas Island Pottery is a pretty cool
place, with the work of several potters displayed on a sprawling
collection of outdoor tables, indoor galleries and open porches. All of
that on a bluff overlooking Puget Sound. Very cool place and very nice
people.

And if you go to the aquarium and if you like seafood (somehow that
doesn't sound right), walk a few blocks south to the famous Ivar's
fish & chips bar--it's famous for it's chowder too.

(It's always the food with you, isn't it, Jeanette.)

And don't forget KOBO, both on Capitol Hill and also at Sixth and
Jackson in the Higo store. Fine clay + other stuff.

Cheers, Hank

Elizabeth,
If you do come to Bainbridge Island contact me.
I have 2 events this week.... grand ol 4th of July
and the farmers market on the 5th. I can direct you to other
galleries on the island which support potters.
If I'm not too wiped out you can come to my studio/home
we'll have a barbecue Saturday or Sunday.
