I am so glad to see somebody else pointing out this book. I have mentioned it to this
list from time to time as well. We found it on a remainder table at the drugstore when
our daughter was tiny. It is one of our cherished children's stories, and the artwork is glorious!

One of the depictions is of the potter holding a pot above his head and pulling a handle.
I always found this picture not only delightful, but instructive. The writer is married to a
potter. Thinking of this book brings many cherished images to mind.

This was a favorite book when my children, now 23 and 27,
were small. We got ours at a second-hand bookstore, and then
tried to find more copies to buy for friends, but couldn't.
All in all, it seems to be quite a rare book.
Our favorite part was being introduced to Potter Brownware's
children: Dolly, Dunt, Marl, Matt, and Cobalt.
Our copy is copyright 1977 and was printed in Great Britain
(the author is Sarah Garland).

ABEbooks.com lists 6 copies, starting at $5.00

Some lucky person in Pataskala, Ohio may have gotten there first.

I read in another post that the author's last name was Garland and it
was published in the UK. She wouldn't be married British potter,
David Garland would she?

I'm a bit late to this discussion, and gradually working through my
1375 unread clayart emails, but here's a link to the 'real' Potter
Brownware.
