updated tue 22 jul 08

I made a stand along banding wheel from an old bar stool.. Attached an
additional roundtable/lazy susan base and then a board. It is very strong --and
this base is adjustable in height.. And, I can use it as a work surface also..
I plan to make at least one more.. Jim in Denton

Another easy banding wheel consists of a
ball bearing unit (mine's 1/2") attached to
an 8" die cast pulley by means of a 10"
by 1/2" shaft. Total cost is less than $20
but it works so smoothly and runs so true
you can band with very high precision.
See it at:

I also have other tools you can build yourself.
Check out the 15 second video clip of the
motorized screen I built 20 years ago
to see how fast a 5 gallon bucket of glaze
or slip can be screened.
Power to the tool makers!

Yeah Jim, you're my kind of people. I've got two bar stools I was
given free. I took the bearings out as they were too stiff to work as
banding wheels. These stools will make good stands once I get the
seats put back together after plaining out the booty divots. They
should make good handbuilding stations or sclupting stands.

Be sure to take pictures and post them so we can get a look at your handiwork.
