Dear Terrance=2C
(I am sorry I have had problem to reply your post directly from the origina=
l message last week.)
Yes=2C I agree with you a hundred percent.

There are still a lot of problems in China. A lot of these problems are lef=
t over from Red China. Especially in the field of democracy and the human r=
ights=2C China is still far behind most western countries. China is moving =
forward=2C but slowly.
=20
The Steaming Pot
During the regime of Red China=2C the country was just like a steaming pot.=
Uprisings were everywhere. The pressure increased every moment. If you sud=
denly open up the lid=2C the pot might explode right away and damaged the t=
hings around it. So=2C what you needed to do was to find the safety valve t=
o release the pressure slowly=2C than open the lid after the inner pressure=
had gone.

Nationalists and Angry Youth=20
On the other hand=2C there are some people who may be called nationalists a=
nd angry youth. Many of them are simple minded youths who do not know much =
about the Cultural Revolution - they don=92t know much about the values of =
freedom of speech and human rights in the western countries. They admire Ma=
o=92s Anti-American thought=2C which is dangerous.=20
=20
About Tibet
Everyone deserves to receive freedom and human rights - including the Tibet=
ans. I think that the Chinese government should learn some of the American =
values. For example=2C what the American government did for the American In=
dians. They should provide the Tibetan Reservations and let them keep their=
culture.
=20
I am an US citizen and both of my daughters were born in the US. All of my =
family lives in San Jose=2C California. I enjoy the life style=2C the syste=
m=2C and the fact that I can breath in the air of freedom. I love this coun=
try.
=20
Every time upon visiting China with my friends=2C I have introduced what we=
have here=2C the value of the democracy and so on so forth.=20
=20
I think that the most important things for people are to understand and res=
pect each other.

We can't excuse China's atrocities against the Tibetans because of
our past misdeeds. Would you approve of slavery simply because we
once had slavery in America?
As long as genocide is being perpetrated by the communist, I
cannot set foot in China and I avoid goods made by that regime.
It is the only way we can help the Chinese people. They deserve freedom.
