Hi Everybody,
Can someone give me advice to make clay crucible for bronze casting. We want
make crucible for ~10 kg (~20Lbs) bronze. We don't have many means so we
need to make our own crucibles, but it will not be fun if it breaks when we
handle it at hot temperature with liquid bronze in!
The local clay that we use is very refractory and rich in silica (fired at
stoneware without preparation it still bisque and breaks like mosaic). For
our stoneware ceramics we add talc (8%) and it works very well.
Any advice will be welcome.
Thanks

Hi Serge,
You could send off for this Booklet -

Too...
'Simple' indestructible Crucibles can be made from a short section of wide
Steel
Pipe, with a Bottom welded
on, and thus would be very easy and inexpensive to do, and would be fine for
Bronze -

What are you intending to Cast?
Keep us posted on how things are going?
Good luck..!
