Clayarters, what do you think about the test in which it is suggested that "Only 14 % of the US population can see her move both ways "? Do you believe what you see or not? Since we are a bunch of left and right brainers I find this very appropriate to discuss on this forum.

I am leaving out my personal opinion about this on purpose....I'll tell you later what I think.

Hi Antoinette,

" Only 14% of the US population can see her move both ways."

"If you try to see it the other way and if you do see, your IQ is above 160=
which is almost a genius."

The above statements were cut & pasted from the link you provided & I have =
to call=A0=20
"horse apples" .=A0 To at least one of them.=A0 While I personally didn't d=
o the research on the percentage of people that can see the dancer turning =
both ways ( I could)=A0=A0=A0 I can say that being able to see her turning =
both ways doesn't mean you're almost a genius.=A0 Ask anyone
that's spent any time talking to me at NCECA=A0 or read anything I've poste=
d on Clayart .
I'm pretty sure this falls into the urban legend category. If I'm nearly a =
genius this whole world just got a whole lot scarier.
Have a good one !

I can make her go either way=2C but I don`t know what
to think about the test. Do I believe what I see? Well=2C
the mind is a wonderous thing. I play games inside my

realities=2C so I think=2C why not?

I see her move both ways. When I see her going clockwise, I can't imagine how I could see her move counter-clockwise and then I see her moving counter-clockwise and don't understand how I could see her moving clockwise. Interesting.

I saw her both ways, first right, then left, then right again.

WOOOOHOOO I am in the top 14% Hurray!!!!.... but isn't genius by
definition a higher percentage than 14%. something like 1% or 2%.
Although sadly since the measure of a genius is relative to the
population's IQ; the actual numbers, if I am not mistaken, have fallen
a good deal. What started at 140 for one test has now fallen to
136....*Sigh* that means as a whole we are getting dumber... The good
news is chances are alot of us now hit above 136, so congratulations
you are geniuses, kinda a bitter victory though.

Now for a quote: (this one Kelly introduced me to)

Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will
not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius
will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not;
the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination
alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will
solve the problems of the human race.

It could just be a matter of knowing a possibility exists and then training
your mind to percieve the possibility. I am getting a kick out of making
her change direction swinging the leg left and right with no rotation.

You're right, Antoinette! I couldn't leave it alone. However, this
time was rather different........ no headache....... no twitchy eyes.....
no muscle contortion for the dancer. BUT she did start clockwise
and switch to counter-clockwise, as Tony F. said, in the "blink of
an eye." Very smooth switch, too.

Thank you for sharing. Very interesting. Much better than
yesterday. Does that mean my I.Q. is expanding???

Drat.
That's what I thought.

I have always been able to see optical illusions either way. However,
I know several folks who who test out of sight on many IQ tests, and
they have "flunked" optical illusions over and over. Imagine that!
Hmmm, wonder what that means about my IQ?
