a tip...
Joan Beamish who worked with me as a potter for
many years had arthritis. I have always thrown with
water that is very warm (105 degrees F), so when I
taught her to throw in the early 80s, that's what she
used and threw pots here until she sold her house
and moved to a retirement village in Arizona.
There she taught classes on the wheel for years.
Try prewarming hands and wrists in very warm
water to see if that helps. Also, I recommend
stack and slam wire wedging to reduce hand
and wrist pain. This method also allows you to add
water to clay as you wedge.
I am including a DVD showing these techniques
in the first box of clay purchased, at no extra cost
since the DVD will fit between the two pugs.
Regular price for the DVD is $13.00.
