Aloha All
I've been on a long research project to try to make copper reds in cone 10 oxidation with little success. One useful thing I've found is that it helps to have Superfine Silicon Carbide. I don't think it melts very well so you need reeeeealy fine particles to enter the glaze melt. I think you need at least 1000 mesh. I use 5 micron size that I got from an abrasive supply company. That equates to something like 20,000 mesh. Reasonable price, too, they use it as a polishing compound. I got a nice flambe on a test tile in my last firing. Can't wait to try it on a larger piece.
Blessings,
