I have only used magnesium carbonate and am using it right now
because I am working on very-high-magnesium glazes. Reason:
Since my "Twice Fired Glazes" --named for my great nephews and
nieces, I have acquired two new great nephews. So I need to
make each of them a glaze named for him. I am a fool for high
magnesium, and so I am working for a high magnesium slip glaze.
However. The mag. carb I have is VERY light, and what I do is
weigh it out, put it in a separate container of water (not right
into the bucket where the glaze is) let it settle on its own and
then add to main container.
Maybe I should try magnesium oxide-- if it is to be had in
ceramic supply houses.
