It is no longer being mined. Ask around. Someplaces might still
have it in stock.

I was trying to hunt some LM spodumene down last year but gave up pretty qu=
ickly. In the mineral world LM Spodumene is known as Amblygonite and can b=
e bought as a low grade gem. From there you might be able to mill it yours=
elf. The only LM Spodumene I ever actually got hold of was from the Canadi=
an company Tanco=2C but the bag was mostly empty and could have been 40 yea=
rs old. If you find a reliable source=2C please let your fellow clayarters=
know.

E...

It is sold as Spodumene LM. If you search under that name you will likely =
find it. Minnesota Clay sells it (www.minnesotaclayusa.com)=2C probably ot=
her places too. It is a decent substitute for amblygonite in old glaze rec=
ipes.

All the best.

Dear Lee;

It is still being mined and the TANCO Corp cannot meet the total
demand for it. They decided some months ago to supply only customers
who were on board at the beginning.

Georgies in Portland OR has 3000 pounds of it, for instance.

Cheers, Hank in Eugene

You should double check. My source has a couple tons, but says it is
the last unless things change.

John, thanks for the note on low melt spod. In your experience, what is th=
e
difference that might be caused in glazes using low melt versus the high
concentration Tanco spud from Canada?

Right now the only thing we can get around here is the Tanco.

It melts lower. The Mino Shino subbing l.m. spod is glossier.
