Hello---many of your problems are using sand in firing platter, plates,
tiles, etc.
by using sand you are adding free silica to your surface which is changing
your alumina/silica ratio and adding free silica..this creates havoc to clay
bodies. Use Iona Grog or ground course or fine grog from recycled bisque
rejects. Iona grog best.-------cracks are good if content of plate deals
with images of people and divorce, etc.
