Is anyone else going to the seminar at Amaco this weekend? It's called
SURFACE, FORM & SUBSTANCE. If you are, I'd love to meet other Clayarters.

PS - Thanks, Mel!

I wish I could, but alas the plight of a production potter with too many
pots to make to be an artist. Well, I shouldn't say that, each pot gets my
best effort and care, I do try to make them special, but sometimes they do
come out of the kiln two or three at time.

*** You will also be in for a treat as Brickyard (Amaco) has the most
wonderful pottery/ceramic art display on-site in their spacious gallery.

They allow pictures so make sure and take time to catalog the many wonderful
works. Make a point to see the amazing work of George Dibikey (Sp?), he is
truly a ceramic artist.

The discounts at the factory outlet are good and the manager, Cheri Scupp,
will take good care of you whether you need 50 lbs of clay or 2000 lbs of
clay. (We use aprox. 6000 lbs of 58M a year, a wonderful warm brown cone 6
stoneware.) Amaco has a HUGE selection of glazes and underglazes. The velvet
underglazes are some of my favorites and the fake wood ash "Pompain" series
is a really neat recent addition.

Chuck, the Billie Creek Potter (M.A.)
1 hour west of Indy and three weeks away from Covered Bridge Festival.

--- Here is a wonderful URL Rick Mahaffey posted on the claycraft list that
may give some light to "What is Art?" even if they don't address the "Is
production pottery art?" conundrum.
