Hi Randy
Wondering about your thoughts on the tests I made on your glaze questions
about your glaze. I only eliminated 2 of the materials.

I like to make the tests and equally am interested to hear feedback.

if you have seen them in the new tests album.

Alisa,,,,,I appreciate your testing this glaze, but I want to try it on my
clay to see how it turns out. It is hard for me to see if I can use this
glaze mixed into one until I see it and feel it for myself on my clay. I
have not tested it yet because I am out of my test tubes. I have gotten
some very interesting results from the layering that I like a lot.

The three glazes that I use in this are:

Andee's fake golden ash with only 5% GB
John Sankeys Iron Red used Crotis Marti
Glossy Brown

I have been mixing the Iron Red together and Glossy Brown together, then
layering by putting the fake ash on bottom and pouring the mixture of the
two glazes on top.

I have a bowl in the kiln that I layered the opposite and will fire probably
early next week.

My ultimate goal with the single glaze would see how it layers over other
glazes. But I like simple glazes as much as possible.

I have been really getting some nice layering effects with some of the
glazes. Very few of the single glaze applications give me the visual depth I
am looking for with my pottery.

You do wonderful work in your testing I don't know where ClayArt would be
without your help.

Hi Randy
Now I understand your goal better. I do not have the recipes for the three
glazes you are mixing together to get your 3 in 1 mix. But if you are
intending to use the 3 in 1 with another either under or over, you could
of course, be much more successful in getting very interesting layering
effects. Thank you for kind comments. I was just interested for some
comparison notes. When you make more tubes for testing, let us hear!

I like the 3 in 1 glazes overall texture, a semi gloss, very smooth. I
definitely would include the Redart or some source of iron for a warmer
color.

Here are the three glazes I am layering. The Fake ash I reduced to 5% GB
after some tests so it would turn to a golden color. You get some real
interesting results from this glaze if you do not sieve it. The GB will be
a little lumpy and it give it some interesting texture.

I'm looking for a good kaki and a good temmoku for ^6
oxidation....and I see from Randy's recipe "glossy brown" that it is
black--and takes crocus martis. I wonder if someone other there knows
how Much Less RIO would be needed to approximate the 5% crocus martis
in that recipe? I read (on Google! thank you Tony!) that red iron
oxide can be substituted, using less RIO. OK, first I should go
consult my books.
But a good orangey iron red? Any ideas?
