searching for a plaster workshop

Katie,

I specialize in molds and mold making. I have been thinking of doing a
workshop now for some time and if there is enough interest I will go
ahead with it. Space has been a problem but I think that has been resolved.

Where are you now?. What would you expect from such a workshop? How much
time would you have to devote to such a workshop? Would yo need weekends
or could yo do it during the week.

Let us explore the possibilities together. There is a pent up demand for
this in my area. I guess I will need to get started on my
preparations. It could be just a demo workshop, or it could be the whole
Mcgillah!

Please let me know what you think.

Regards,

John Rodgers

Katie...

I am far from expert=2C but I found two books to be particularly helpful. =
Donald Frith's "Mold Making for Ceramics"=2C though a bit technical in natu=
re=2C seems to be the best book on doing it the right way=2C i.e. the "indu=
stry" way. Andrew Martin's "Essential Guide to Mold Making & Slip Casting"=
=2C while heavily focused on his unique model making system=2C provides a g=
reat primer on what sometimes appear to be "down and dirty" methods. I per=
sonally use a combination of both methods=2C though leaning more toward the=
"down and dirty". Andrew Martin also gives workshops=2C but I have no inf=
ormation at hand on his schedule.

Hope it helps.

Be well.
