I use the base floating blue from Chappell, but use a variation to get a
very nice varigated blue. I simple take out the iron, and cut the rutile in
half. You get a nice blue with this variation. Fires good from Cone 5 to
7. I also use it for a wonderful irridescent green. The green works best
with a hard Cone 6 or 7. It tends to go matt at Cone 5 and I don't think is
as stable as a Cone 6 to 7. Best not to slow cool this glaze it likes a
normal cool down.
Green is good with about 3-4% copper carb, 5% tin, and 3% rutile. I brush
on two coats and sponge on the third coat for even glaze, but it can be
poured on just make sure you get at least two or three coats of a milk
thickness.
