Thanks Mel, keep spreading the word about how bad we have it in FL.
The other states should feel sorry for us, gosh we actually got some
wind and rain with the last 2 hurricanes. Oh yea, the tide did come over
the sea wall
a bit too.
And sometimes we have had 2 days in a row without blue skies! Imagine that
hardship,
very depressing.
We don't have the joy of shoveling snow, or driving on ice with tires frozen
square. I
miss that from my time in Alaska, the syncopated clump clump till they
thawed.
Or the excitement of finding out the only slick patch on the highway is the
bridge
I'm traversing the same time as a semi truck.
I don't own a decent winter parka or boots either, I know that makes you
feel bad for me.
The infernal green all year round is the worst, you will really miss the 6
months of nothing but brown and gray.
Finding something to do with all the citrus that ripens in the WINTER is
also a major
problem. Thank goodness we have some snowbirds from up north living in the
neighborhood at
that time. They kindly accept the extra fruit just to help me out.

So pity us here in FL, we who didn't listen about the perils and are now
paying the price
of having to hear all the "I told you so's".

Angela Davis in Homosassa on the Nature Coast of FL (don't even think about
venturing here,
bad place)

Oh, to keep this clay related.......my studio is without walls, do have a
roof though.
The breezes flow right through, really rough.

We each seek our own "El Dorado".

For a long time Wayne found his in Key West but it changed. Angela
found her's in Homosassa and her's did not change.

Me? I thought I found it in Marathon - just north and east of Key West -
back in the '60's. But after a few months the vision was lost. I moved
to Alaska in my search - and I found my El Dorado. I stayed for the next
30 years.

Robert Service really summed it up in his classic -"Spell of the Yukon".
If you've not read it, you should.
