floating blue, enough already

I know I'm going to regret this post. I'm reading ClayArt and drinking beer, sometimes a bad combo, like drinking and driving. I don't even fire to cone 6. That said, if I see another post on floating blue I'm going to barf. How much is there to say about one glaze? Blues are easy and rutile is great, I get it. How about trying something harder? I've been working on oxidation copper reds for 10 years. Anybody got that one nailed? I'd love to see a true orange at ^10, too.

MoonHahahaha! Do you have a cone 6 electric shino? Elitist! Hahahaha!

I have always thought a MC6G would be an excellent topic for a new list.

hi lee
i think you are elitist
im sorry honderthousand times to bring up the floating blue again, but
remaining the reactions, i think that there are still many potters how are
interested in the floating blue
i now that it has been a subject already often but as Mel always says , on
your computer there is a delete key
there are also many newbies and in the meanwhile there are many experiments
that are done so!
maybe you can take over the job of mel, but i dont think the other
clayarters agree with that.

Dear Dean,
So, how successful have you been in your quest for a Copper red
without intervening with a reducing atmosphere at Cone 10 (1300 deg
C...2370 deg C)?. What modifications have you made to the recipes you
have used? What have you done so far that has failed to get that
fabled colour ?
Best regards,
Ivor Lewis.
Redhill,
South Australia.

I know. But you are being unfair and retro-elistist. Haha! I
have always been a proponent of non-cobalt blues. I get them from
titanium, iron, copper and chrome.

I have no idea why electric kiln folks call rutile or titanium blue
"floating blue." Is it from the secret glaze book?

It is ridiculous to say ClayArt has become elitist when it has
become so focused on cone 6 electric. I like diversity. Diversity
is not elitism.
