A yellow or caramel is common for clear glazes with some rutile.
I'd say take a 50/50 by weight mix of frit 3134 and rutile and
thin it down to nearly 'watercolor' thickness and try a few
brushstrokes over that clear glaze with rutile. At some point
you'll start to get more interesting results.

doesn't care what the elitists think about it)

Well I did some testing of this Rutile Wash Magic and I gotta say Nope no
magic on Med to dark brown stoneware clays fired to Cone ^6 Oxidation.
There was nothing remarkable about the testing on my glazes. I took 2 cups
of Clear liner glaze (MC6G) and 1 table spoon rutile. Nothing scientific to
be sure. What I did find was a really really nice Yellow though. Looks
good on flat tiles as well as standing up tiles, breaks nice with the drk
clays and very glossy when dipped first in cream and than in the rutile
mix. Kind of a n earthy yellow with just a dip of the mix on clay. for
what it's worth:)

I could be wrong, Mary, but I was under the impression that the Magic
Wash was to be used over other glazes, not as a glaze on its own. Your
results are pretty much what I would expect from it on its own, and esp
on a dark clay body, but over the top of glazes that have colouring
oxides added, I can imagine it could create quite "magic" effects as
the rutile does its work in combination with the oxides. Hope this
helps!
