There has been discussion of how much reduction, how long to educe etc. =
Potters are now firing

to shorten firing times etc. Firing is the final culmination of all the =
time and work you have

invested in your pots. If you get the results you want fire any way you =
want. I reduction fire=20

my work and my firing schedule in reduction is 10 hours of reduction =
until the final ending of the=20

cycle. At cone 8 if it is necessary to alter the damper, it makes =
little difference if the kiln is reducing=20

or oxidizing. I always finish the firing in an oxidizing atmosphere. I =
use glossy, mat and satin glazes in

the same firing with consistent results. I fire to cone 9 =BD . The =
glazes are clear and rich. =20

I have some pots and kilns I have built on Flickr. If you would like to =
see them look at:

Ah Bill, I'm so jealous. That kiln looks brand new. Nothing more
beautiful than a new kiln with new brick. Mine is twenty-five years
old and looks it. I'd love to rebuild it but brick is so expensive
now that I just can't justify it. Besides it works.
