kick wheel

Hello to the list.
I'm looking for ideas and or good plans for making a kick wheel.
It will be needed for a week long workshop next summer, 200 miles from
home. I would like to be able to disassemble and move or take important
parts and build another one there.

Metal and woodworking are not a problem. (Isn't MIG nice?)

Thanks

I have been sending out a message all over the place for the past two
months in serch of a used or discount kick wheel ,and have as of yet been
unsucessful. I am a junior in high school and have become very interested
in pottery this year at school. I have been constantly practicing my
throwing skills, and am finally ready to get serious about it. I have a
perfect place to put my kiln, and the only thing i need is a wheel to put
next to it. If anyone has an old kick wheel lying around or just one that
they are willing to sell, perferably a Thomas Stuart or Lockerbie but any
will do, please send me an email(Csnow16894@aol.com) and you will have my
upmost gratitude. Thanks.

If memory serves, you have a friend who owns,
or have access to a lumber mill?

I have a couple of lumber mills down the road I can usually get wood
from. My wheel is made from a tire, a rim and various old machine parts.
I did have the two flange and plate parts that fit around the bearings
made to order.
