wheel decision made

I recently wrote the list requesting advice about purchasing a wheel.
I got some great responses with really well-thought-out approaches to
finding the right wheel both on- and off list, especially from Larry
Kruzan, Bill Schran, Cheryl Sanger, Gayle Bair, and Lou Turner, to
whom I am greatly appreciative.

Several people reminded me to search the archives because this is a
subject that has come up more than once in the past. I did that and
found lots of interesting information.

When I was in Costa Rica, the wheel I bought (and left there with
friends when I moved back to the States) was a Creative Industries
Clay Boss. I liked it a lot, fortunately, because I didn't have much
choice about wheels there, where the selection was very limited. In
fact, that was the only wheel I could get there.

But this time, since I could have my choice, I solicited your help.
Whatever decision I made had to have cost factored in heavily.

Anyway, in searching the archives, I came across a letter from Vince
Pitelka on the subject a couple of years ago saying that he was very
satisfied with the CI Clay Boss wheels he had bought for his students'
studio. Given the price I was able to find online from MudInMind ($510
with free shipping and some tools thrown in), Vince's good experience,
the machine's specs, and my previous (unschooled) satisfaction with
the wheel, I decided to go with that model. I'm anxiously awaiting its
arrival any day now.

So, once again, thanks to all of you out there who are so generous
with your time and knowledge.
