If anyone would like to see 2 floor systems for a gas kiln drop me a
note and I will send them to you. The system makes for perfect
reduction and for extremely even firing. I have use this construction
of the floor and flue exit since 1968 and it will solve lots of problems
that sometimes occurs in a gas kiln.

I would love to see your design. I am planning to build a kiln next summer.

If you need a physical address to send them to let me know. Thanks for sharing, Loren Jones

I would like to see how it works. We hope to build a bigger kiln soon.

Dear Francis;

I built several kilns at Anderson Ranch while there between '69 and
'73. All were no problem to fire with Denver and Eclipse burners and
pretty normal chimneys(none over 12 feet in height), and the sizes
were 24 cuft to 60 cuft. The Ranch was around 8800 feet elevation, as
I recall(Aspen was around 400 feet lower), so I can't see you having
problems if you use good adjustable burners like the ones I mentioned.

I also built a number of glass furnaces, glory holes, and annealing
ovens, all fired with gas(we had a free line to the ranch). All
performed admirably. One thing I learned there, is that a piece of
sheet metal the size of the foundation should be placed between
concrete and the brickwork of any kiln so that ground water is not
sucked up into the kiln during fires. Our fuel use dropped
significantly once we added the metal. Galvanized is good for this.
Before the metal was added, we melted snow twenty feet out from the
kilns.

Cheers, Hank

Hi Bill

I would like to see the system as I am planning on building a kiln in my ba=
ckyard next summer. I live at 6200 ft. so any help I can get for lack of ai=
r could be helpful.

Thanks

Yes, please. Do you think they would be applicable to a wood fired kiln as
well?
