If you are able to get some volcanic ash that is coarse grained, not
powdery, it makes wonderful speckles...look like iron spots, not all the
same size..

Someone asked for a speckled brown glaze, because some else
wanted to make a speckled brown dinnerset.

Just about any Albany Slip glaze will do, if iron and or rutile
are in them. As Albany has left us, use Red Art,

Here are two of my Twice Fired Glazes that are quite different at
c.6 and then if refired at c.04. They have been tested (by
others) in digitally controlled kilns with holds--if you have
such a kiln you can experiment.

This is Noah's Sherry

33.4 Frit--Ferro 3134
12.8 Bone Ash
8.5 Wood Ash--Apple (washed)
25.7 Red Art
19.6 Silica

7 Fe2O3

This is Cassie's Buckwheat Honey

Red Art 58
Bone Ash 6
Talc 9
Neph Sy 9
Frit 3185 9
Frit 3134 9

Add 7% Fe2O3

These are not speckled but I certainly would experiment with some
rutile or Ilmenite.
