Thanks for the reply again. No, the holes in the pipe are there according
to their article for adding secondary air at the base of the burning wood.
Me, I am not convinced that this is all that effective, but it is their
experience and who I am to argue.
The two alloys I came across were Alloy-X and A-286. I have not priced
them, but they are more than likely way out of Rob's budget.

I have used mild steel 'steam pipe' for fire bars my fast fire, but have=20
not fired it yet.
The steam pipe is 38mm diameter with a bore of approx 25mm . I am going=20
to insert 10mm reo
to catch the bar when it finally burns through.
I have left the ends open to introduce secondary and cool the pipe.
